Terms of Use
Last updated: October 22, 2026
1. About these terms
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) apply to worldcopdday.org (the “Site”), operated by Alliance for Health Implementation Science, Inc. (“AHIS,” “we,” “us”). By using the Site or its materials, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Site.
2. About World COPD Day
World COPD Day is an annual observance led by the Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD). AHIS operates this Site independently to help patients, families and organizations recognize COPD, ask for a breathing test and, for people with COPD, test once for Alpha-1. This Site is not affiliated with or endorsed by GOLD. For official World COPD Day resources, visit goldcopd.org.
3. Not medical advice
The Site is for recognition, awareness and education. It is not medical advice and is not a substitute for advice from a qualified healthcare provider. The five questions are not a diagnosis; only a breathing test can confirm COPD. If you think you or someone else is having a medical emergency, call your local emergency number (911 in the US).
4. Using the materials
You may download, share and print the social media tiles, captions, key messages and partner templates on the Site for non-commercial awareness of COPD and Alpha-1, provided that you: do not alter them except to crop or resize for posting, or to add your organization’s logo where a template provides a space for it; do not use them to advertise or promote any product or service; and do not use them in any way that is misleading, unlawful or harmful. Some images on the Site are AI-generated and labeled as such; keep that label when you share them. All other rights are reserved. For any other use, contact info@ahis.org.
GOLD’s materials, including the World COPD Day logo, the 2026 theme, graphic and press release, belong to GOLD and are used with permission. Share them only as GOLD allows, with credit to GOLD. Content from the GOLD Report © 2025, 2026, Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease, available from www.goldcopd.org, published in Deer Park, IL, USA. Commercial reproduction not permitted. World COPD Day® is a registered mark of GOLD.
5. Campaign participation
The word cloud. When you add a word, you allow us to show it, with your country, in the word cloud and in aggregate reports. Words you type yourself are reviewed before they appear, and we may decline any word. Entries are deleted within 12 months of receipt; you can ask for earlier deletion at info@ahis.org.
The partner wall. When your organization joins, you confirm you may share its name and logo and allow AHIS to display them on the Site and in campaign materials. Listing is not endorsement or partnership with GOLD or AHIS. We review every submission before it goes live and will remove your organization on request.
6. Acceptable use
Please don’t misuse the Site, for example by attempting to disrupt it, gain unauthorized access, send spam or unlawful content, or impersonate another person or organization.
7. Links to other websites
The Site links to websites operated by others, including GOLD’s World COPD Day resources, the lead organizations’ websites, the Big Baton Pass and social media platforms. We are not responsible for their content, accuracy or practices.
8. No warranty
The Site and its materials are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free or free of harmful components.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, AHIS and its directors, staff, volunteers and partners will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Site or its materials.
10. Changes
We may change the Site, its materials or these Terms at any time. The date at the top shows when these Terms last changed. Continuing to use the Site after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute relating to the Site or these Terms will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Ventura County, California, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
